Richarlison sends brutal response to former Liverpool star amid Tottenham showboating debate

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has brutally hit back at criticism of his showboating during his side's 2-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

With 15 minutes left, Spurs boss Antonio Conte brought on the £60million attacker as a substitute and he promptly sparked a commotion by juggling the ball. Richarlison picked up the ball on the opposite side of the field before chipping it up with the outside of his right boot and started juggling it.

He then passed the ball off to a teammate but not before Brennan Johnson collided with the forward, as Neco Williams landed on the former Everton man. The incident caused quite a stir, with Richarlison coming under heavy criticism from certain corners.

On Monday, former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann tweeted a peculiar take on the situation, suggesting Richarlison should have been booked for unsportsmanlike behaviour and a free-kick awarded to Forest. He wrote: "Nothing to do with showboating. Should have been booked for unsportsmanlike conduct and restarted with free kick to Forest."

But Spurs forward Richarlison decided he wasn't having any of it, brutally replying to the former Germany international. His short response simply reads: "Cry more," alongside a crying emoji. Tottenham fans loved the response, with several sending messages of support to the striker.

Following the incident, Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher said: "Woah! It does wind people up. You can't do that. But what is he doing? "He just winds people up that lad, Richarlison. He winds me up. What do you expect Johnson to do?"

Carragher then followed that up by describing Richarlison as "daft" for his antics. But Antonio Conte defended his player following the 2-0 win.

The Spurs boss said: "It is a game and you are under pressure. I repeat it is OK. I don’t think Richy wanted to show disrespect to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest are a really good team with a great history in football and we have a great respect. Richy for sure thinks in the same way. Not disrespectful for anyone and I can tell you this."
