Richarlison's touchline spats and Aaron Ramsdale gesture which enraged Spurs star

Richarlison only came on as a 71st-minute substitute but was still heavily involved in the chaos which enveloped the North London derby.

Arsenal moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League on Sunday thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham. Hugo Lloris’ own-goal and Martin Odegaard’s finish from outside the area were enough for Mikel Arteta’s side, with Aaron Ramsdale producing several decent stops to keep Spurs at bay.

There were unpleasant scenes after the full-time whistle as a Tottenham fan aimed a kick at Ramsdale. Tottenham were quick to condemn the actions of their supporter, but as Ramsdale later said, it left a “sour taste” after their win.

Richarlison did not have an impact on the pitch for Spurs after being brought off the substitutes’ bench by Antonio Conte in the second half. But the Brazilian still managed to get into a few spats with Arsenal players.

Footage posted on social media shows that Richarlison was furious before he even joined the action for Matt Doherty in the 71st minute. While warming up, he was involved in a little spat with fellow substitute Takehiro Tomiyasu, hitting out at the Japanese international after he tried to block his path with an arm as Thomas Partey wound up for a throw-in.

He was similarly annoyed by his international team-mate Gabriel Martinelli, who offered him a hand while trying to take a corner. A video taken by a fan in the stands close by shows Richarlison snubbing the gesture, which is greeted by loud cheers.

After the full-time whistle Richarlison was involved in another spat – this time with Ramsdale. The Brazilian was seemingly wound up by the Gunners goalkeeper kissing the badge in front of the Spurs fans.

Richarlison chased after Ramsdale before bumping into him and giving him a verbal volley. He put his hand in his face while wagging a finger. The duo were then separated by a steward as Ramsdale continued on his walk off the pitch.

Ramsdale later explained what had happened in an interview with Sky Sports. "Spurs fans were giving me some crack second half, and I gave them some back," he said.

"The few people I did give it to it was probably well greeted, in a sportsmanship way. But then a fan jumped over and gave me a little punch in the back. That's what happened, and it's a shame because it is just a game of football at the end of the day.

"Everyone, both sets of players, tried to bring me away. Thankfully nothing actually happened too drastically, but it's a sour taste."

Conte also condemned the actions of the fan who tried to kick Ramsdale. "It's not good, I repeat we have to always show respect in every moment,” he said.

"In this situation the final result effects everybody. I have to try and do the right consideration, if you are to get emotional you can be angry for the bad result."
