Richarlison could face a three-match ban as the FA investigates the Everton striker for tossing a flare into the Goodison crowd.
The Brazilian handed Frank Lampard's side a lifeline in their relegation fight with a vital three points against Thomas Tuchel's men. Richarlison pounced on Cesar Azpilicueta's error to fire a low strike past Edouard Mendy to secure the 1-0 victory.
But the striker is in hot water with the FA after picking up a lit blue flare and throwing it back into the crowd as he celebrated his goal with an investigation set to be launched by the governing body. The FA confirmed a probe was likely to go ahead when they receive the reports from referee Kevin Friend and Premier League matchday delegates.
FA regulations over a "non-standard" incident mean punishment is unlikely to come into play for at least a fortnight. Wembley chiefs will also not review the video evidence until Tuesday since Monday is a Bank Holiday. Richarlison could face a three-match ban which is the maximum penalty but he could escape with a fine and a severe warning.
An Everton club spokesperson said: "We will look into the matter but, as far we are concerned, Richarlison was attempting to throw it out of the ground."
Earlier this year, the FA sent a written warning to Harvey Elliott after he was seen picking up a flare following the Carabao Cup Final after Liverpool secured a penalty shootout win over Chelsea.
Lampard was over the moon with the grit Everton showed and paid tribute to the Goodison faithful for spurring his side on as they sealed a crucial win.. He told Sky Sports: "It was difficult. They are always a team that will put you under pressure late on. We did brilliantly. The team, stadium, the fans were man of the match today. From the drive in to the support, which we need. Thanks to them.
"The fans are in the middle of this. I am pleased the players could see on the way in what it means to the fans. They know that and understand it. They got behind us, were nicely aggressive, this place has to be a hard place to come. Results have been good here at Goodison before I came, we have to maintain that.

"We have to fight for points, we are in the relegation zone and we have to go with that same spirit every game. They [the players] have to show they care. I like that. They don't have to go over the line but have to show they care, the fans want to see that. I prodded them a bit before the game because the situation is clear. We need to perform with that level in all our remaining games. That needs to keep coming in and if it doesn't we have to sort it out.
Jordan Pickford pulled off a number of saves to deny Chelsea an equaliser and Lampard waxed lyrical about England's number one. He added: "Jordan (Pickford) made great saves. they are Chelsea and will have chances but we had chances as well. Jordan is such a great lad, he is England's number one and that is the reason why.
"That is top level goalkeeping, I'm a happy with him and all the players and all the subs who came on."
