Richarlison discusses what he did after Champions League anthem and Tottenham half-time message

Richarlison has admitted that he couldn't help but smile after hearing the Champions League anthem ahead of Tottenham's 2-0 win over Marseille. Dreaming of playing in the famous competition for a number of years, the attacker's long-held ambition finally came true on Wednesday evening.

Not only did the player get to realise his dream at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he was also the hero on the night after netting two late headers to secure all three points in their first Group D clash. A very emotional evening for the Spurs player as he could be seen crying when embracing his father at the end of the game, the player opened up on his Champions League experience when speaking after the win.

"After hearing the anthem, I started to smile, it was my dream as a kid," admitted the 25-year-old. "Being there, listening to the anthem, playing the match, I got very emotional and I was rewarded after scoring these two goals with the help of my friends.

"The whole team helped me a lot. I'm very happy, it was one of the best days of my life with my father and family here. My father was here, he has been with me through all my career. He helped me a lot to make my dreams come true. To have him here today was very emotional for me because he's a huge part of my success."

Hailed by Antonio Conte after the victory in the Champions League, Richarlison also waxed lyrical about his boss. Explaining how the Italian is supporting him, he opened up on what the boss told the team at half-time.

"Very good he always always supports me and wants me to train harder. He's always attentive all the time during the training sessions, he makes us work very hard to secure wins," said the 25-year-old.

"At half-time, he said all the details of the plays they did against us in the first half. In the second half we were able to get a counter attack in which one of their players got sent off which made the game a bit easier and made it possible to score the goals."

Starting in a front three with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for the second game in a row, the player is now hoping that the goals start to flow between the trio.

"It's good especially in the pitch they're one of the best," he said. "It's my second game starting with them and I hope we score more goals."
