Richard Lewis, the beloved actor and comedian known for his role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, passed away on Feb. 27 at the age of 76. His official cause of death, as per his death certificate, was cardiopulmonary arrest, with Parkinson’s disease listed as a secondary cause. Cardiopulmonary arrest occurs when heart function and respiration cease, often leading to death, particularly in patients with coronary artery disease.
Lewis had publicly disclosed his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2021, which ultimately led to his retirement from comedy. Despite privately battling the disease, he continued to be an iconic figure in the entertainment industry.
