Richard Keys makes demand after Liverpool vs Arsenal and agrees with Roy Keane

Richard Keys has slammed Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson for the incident with linesman Constantine Hatzidakis in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Arsenal and has called for more to be done to protect match officials.

The Gunners squandered a two-goal advantage at Anfield to see their lead at the top of the Premier League table cut down to only six points. Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus put Mikel Arteta's side ahead in the first-half, but Roberto Firmino's 87th-minute header levelled the scoring after Mohamed Salah had halved the deficit.

Shortly after referee Paul Tierney put an end to the first-half, Robertson was booked for his complaints after the incident with Hatzidakis. The linesman appeared to elbow the Liverpool left-back after Roberton appeared to put his hands on the official.

After releasing an initial statement confirming they would review the matter after the game, the PGMOL provided a further update on Monday which read: “PGMOL will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield.”

Now, former Sky Sports broadcaster Keys has demanded that more is done on how players conduct themselves around officials. Writing in his weekly blog, Keys said: "What a game at Anfield. I know Arteta wasn't celebrating at the end but I firmly believe it was a good point for his team.

"We’ll maybe never know exactly what happened at half-time when Robertson and assistant Hatzidakis clashed. The pictures aren’t good for the lino, but I hope he escapes censure.

"It’s got to stop. Robertson had no right to confront the assistant at half-time. I don’t agree with Roy Keane often, but he was right when he said Robertson behaved 'like a baby'.
