- According to Grant, who has appeared in an interview with The Guardian, Aiello launched offensive personal and political insults at co-stars Lauren Bacall and Rupert Everett during the outburst.
- Grant revealed that Bacall fiercely confronted Aiello in response, creating a scene more dramatic than anything captured in the finished film.
- Following the incident, the entire cast refused to speak to Aiello and effectively blacklisted him for the remainder of production.
