Wrestling legend Ric Flair has named himself as the face of cannabis used to help combat erectile dysfunction.
The company providing the product belongs to that of boxing icon Mike Tyson and the pair have previously been filmed smoking the substance together. Last November, the former boxing heavyweight champion’s premium cannabis brand and Ric Flair Drip, Flair's cannabis line, announced they were joining forces under a new parent company called Carma Holdings LLC. ("Carma").
Flair, who shares the same passion for weed as Tyson, will work to help tackle a problem that 52 percent of men suffer from, according to The Sun. During a chat with Busted Open Radio, Flair admitted his knowledge on the possible medical benefits of cannabis is small, but explained his excitement for his new role.
“My line drops here in Florida where you still have to have a medical card to get it.," he said. "As far as going and lecturing and talking about it, no. I’m not that knowledgeable. There’s a lot to learn about cannabis. They’re going to have a cannabis for erectile dysfunction, and guess who will be the face of that? Wooooo!”
While it is unknown what effects the drug has on erectile dysfunction, Flair's comments may be referring to cannabidiol (CBD), which is one of the chemical compounds in marijuana. The product is growing in popularity and is said to improve mood and sleep, and claims to helps stimulate blood flow if used as a lubricating oil. But much like cannabis, it's understood there's no direct evidence so far that CBD works on erectile dysfunction. Over several decades, Flair made his name as one of the most flamboyant and charismatic wrestlers of all time.
While his days of making his fellow superstars tap out to the famous figure-four leg lock submission are in the rear view mirror, his legacy in the business has been continued by daughter and current SmackDown Women’s champion, Charlotte Flair. She is set to defend her coveted championship against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania next month, the winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble match in January.
While speaking to Chris Boyle of The Daytona Beach News-Journal recently, Flair spoke about her mindset heading into yet another blockbuster match on the grandest stage. “First, let’s start with the main event (aspect),” Flair said. “I always find it so odd when people say, ‘Why does Charlotte always want to main-event?’ Isn’t that what you want as a performer?
“If you’re a football team, you want to be at the Super Bowl, right? I don’t understand the criticism over that. Why wouldn’t you want to be a champion? With Rhea, we’re not starting from scratch. We have so much history. We have our first face-off Friday. I’m not planning anything in my head creatively because I want to feel the energy.
“I want to feel what the audience thinks of how far she’s come, and where I’m at now. Will it be a different vibe? Are they going to want to see her beat me, or do they know she’s not ready? I have to feel it out there, depending on my mind, what direction to go.”
She continued: “At the same time, I feel how Rhea feels will be much different. I beat her for the NXT title, I beat her for the Raw title. That’s something, in her heart: 'I know I can beat Charlotte. I have to beat Charlotte.' I feel like she has something to prove to herself. And we naturally have such great chemistry. I know she’s going to bring it, and she knows I’m going to bring it.”
