Barnsley and Glentoran are both interested in Dunfermline’s Rhys Breen.
The defender is a free agent in the summer although the Pars have already open talks over a new deal. The former Rangers youngster has had an impressive campaign and has been a big player in helping Dunfermline to go clear at the top of League One. His displays have alerted Barnsley, who keep a close eye on Scottish talent and recently signed Oli Shaw from Kilmarnock.
The English League One promotion pushers are the only side watching Breen. Ambitious Northern Irish outfit Glentoran have also registered an interest in the 23-year-old, who is unlikely to be short of options come the end of the season. Pars manager James McPake is also doing all he can to ensure he can keep Breen for what he hopes will be a return to the Scottish Championship. The Fifers are 11 points clear of rivals Falkirk at the top of third tier and are nailed on to win the title.
