After a night full of singing, dancing and laughter, I can honestly say that the Lewis Capaldi concert in Nottingham is one of the best shows I’ve ever been too. Even before Capaldi took to the stage, the crowd was going crazy for his opening act Raye.
Raye started the night off with 'You Don't Know Me' , and had the whole crowd singing along. Throughout her set she changed the mood from sad to happy to eco warrior, and was making jokes and sharing personal anecdotes between songs.
She also shared that she had her hair done for the night by a Nottingham hairdresser. I didn’t realise how many of her songs I knew from the radio and actually already loved.

The break between artists gave the audience a chance to refill their drinks and pull out their homemade signs for Capaldi. His set started with an impressive stage transition revealing the band, and then Capaldi joined them on stage to open with ‘Forget Me.’
The crowd was in awe of the Scottish singer, and went crazy when confetti was fired from the stage and ceilings. Capaldi had a brief warning of health and safety, asked for there to be no fights, and also warned that the last Motorpoint arena he went to was Cardiff so sorry if he shouts the wrong name at any point.
He also said: “We’re going to have fun tonight Nottingham we’re gonna have lots of fun. It’s a Friday night in Nottingham.”
Capaldi played hit after hit, with the stage beautifully changing between songs. There was also never a silent moment, as the gaps between songs were filled with screams of I love you Lewis.
At one point the singer noticed a sign in the crowd asking to take a photo with him, and he incited the fan on stage for a photo. Capaldi took a selfie and signed Rebecca’s poster, who was a fan attending the concert in memory of her friend Jacob who passed away last year. It was a really wholesome moment, and Rebecca truly couldn’t have looked happier.
Capaldi then dedicated his next song 'Before you Go’ to Jacob. After a quick set change, Capaldi reappeared on top of the box that was used to reveal the stage, giving the appearance he was on top of a set of stairs in the ocean.
Throughout the night Capaldi hit all the notes like a champion, he had the crowd singing and dancing along, and there was even more confetti fired into the audience. One thing I didn’t expect but was utterly amazing, was when Capaldi decided to make his final song a cover of Taylor Swift’s Love Story. All in all the entire night was amazing.
