Revenge porn victim, city branded 'festival of litter' and 'luxury' £2m home

These are the latest ECHO headlines this morning.

Woman too devastated to go out after ex posted naked pictures to Instagram

A revenge porn victim was left feeling "distraught" after her ex-boyfriend posted explicit pictures and videos of her on social media.

Gareth Rees uploaded the materials of his former partner on Facebook and Instagram, as well as sending them directly to her loved ones. She was left so devastated by his actions that she was unable to even walk the dog.

Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard yesterday afternoon, Thursday, that the couple had been in a relationship for around a year before their romance came to an end in early May this year. But Rees, of Barrington Road in Wallasey, had a "strong, visceral and disproportionate reaction".

On May 6, the 44-year-old sent "sexual material" of her to her daughter's boyfriend - who did not open the message. Just over a week later, he posted an explicit video of the woman on Instagram.

The following day, Rees messaged a pornographic image to another of her ex-boyfriends but deleted the picture before it was seen. Around a month later, he posted a photograph of her to Facebook in which her face could not been seen.

The latter act put him in breach of a six-month non-molestation order which Rees was handed by Birkenhead Magistrates' Court on June 22. His vile campaign of harassment was described as causing her to "suffer serious psychological harm".

Liverpool branded 'festival of litter' amid calls for action

Liverpool has been branded a 'festival of litter' amid concerns at the scale of waste and dumping in the city.

A city councillor will bring a motion to next week's full meeting of the council, calling for urgent action to tackle litter and waste issues he says are blighting Liverpool. Lib Dem Councillor Richard Clein also said there are major issues with weeds on routes into the city and suburbs, particularly in district centres.

The motion, which will be debated and discussed at the town hall meeting next Wednesday, notes the hard work being done by the council's Liverpool Streetscene Services Limited team. He also praised the work of volunteers across the city who organise litter picks to try and keep on top of the growing problem.

But in his motion, Cllr Clein will raise concerns that "only a small number of establishments with a premises licence in the city currently have conditions relating to outside waste." Further concerns will be raised about a "lack of enforcement", with just one fine issued for dog fouling and 10 prosecutions for fly tipping in the last 12 months.

Liverpool Council has made recent moves to try and get on top of what it accepts is a big issue. The council has partnered with Keep Britain Tidy and is rolling out new underground super bins in communities across the city.

Renovated home doubles its asking price

An "exceptional luxury" home has been put on the market that costs more than a million pounds.

The five bedroom detached home has been recently renovated "top-to-bottom" which has added a significant value to the property. Found on Firs Lane, in Appleton, Warrington, the house is listed for offers over £2,000,000.

New refurbishments include a redesigned living space, en-suite bathrooms in all the bedrooms and a indoor swimming pool with leisure facilities. According to the Land Registry, when the home was first sold it was valued at £475,000 in 2001. Since then it has been sold twice, with it selling in 2007 for 79% more than the original sale price at £850,000.

Images on Rightmove show the home has been completed to a “high standard” throughout. Highlights include a pool room, gym, cinema area, bar and large garden.

One of its many qualities is its spacious living areas, with the home spanning across more than 6000 sqft, over three floors. One of the bedrooms, found on the top floor, is spread across the whole level with its own dressing room, lounge, bathroom and eaves storage.

Thanks to recent renovations, all of the remaining four bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom, with some also featuring dressing rooms. The two rooms to the back also boast Juliet balconies offering views over the garden. Read more here.
