Reveller 'thought he was going to die' after being knifed by stranger with 39 convictions

A stranger was knifed eight times in front of horrified bystanders outside the Theatre Royal, Nottingham. The man, who thought he was going to die, had visited Rock City, Nottingham, with friends when he rowed with his girlfriend outside the venue in the early hours of August 27, 2021.

Michael Stevenson, aged 38, from Alfreton Road, The Arboretum, and Zuber Hassan, 22, of Bentinck Road, Forest Fields, were in a group nearby as the man shouted his girlfriend's name and tried to get her to stop and speak to him, Nottingham Crown Court heard. One of the men said something to the victim but he told them not to get involved because it was nothing to do with them.

After this, both Stevenson, who was drunk, and Hassan were joined by an unknown man, who is still wanted by police, and the victim was chased and assaulted. Stevenson was the third man immediately behind the victim and followed by the unidentified man. Hassan was the last to appear as they got to the stairs leading to the stage door of the theatre.
