Reveller Brits celebrate King Charles' Coronation by partying into early hours

Wild Brits have been celebrating into the early hours of Sunday morning after King Charles was crowned at Westminster Abbey.

Charles and Queen Camilla were anointed during the historic ceremony on Saturday and despite rainy conditions, it could not dampen the atmosphere on the day... or the night.

The Coronation will be filled with celebrations across the weekend with a special concert featuring global stars such as Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Take That and Paloma Faith at Windsor Castle on Sunday evening.

The King has declared Monday as a bank holiday as the festivities continue and members of the public have been urged to take part in 'The Big Help Out' by volunteering to do good work in their community.

But in true British style, revellers have danced and drank into the night to celebrate the landmark occasion.

Union Jack inspired attire and royal accessories were in full focus as friends headed into city centres such as Newcastle.

Another woman in Newcastle was more than happy to get her photo taken as she beamed for the camera as she wore a chic black dress coupled with a garland, small flag and a crown.

Two men looked worse for wear as they posed for the photographer with one donning sunglasses while trying to keep his friend upright.

Women seemed to be the soul and party in the north east as another woman danced in the street wearing a white sash and a Union Jack top hat.

The wet weather which affected the King's Coronation did not make its way to Newcastle as temperatures remained in the mid teens, and the revellers outfits certainly matched.

There could be a few sore heads in the morning but they should recover in time for the celebratory concert, which kicks off at 8pm in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Gary Barlow teased details of Take That’s performance in what will be their first gig in four years.

The 52-year-old singer-songwriter will be joined by bandmates Mark Owen, 51, and Howard Donald, 55, to wow those attending the concert - and the millions that will tune in to watch the spectacular on TV.

Sunday night’s gig will see Gary and the boys back on stage for the first time since they wrapped up their Odyssey Tour back in September 2019 - and served as their Greatest Hits tour.

Gary told The Sun on Sunday: "We were really honored to be asked to take part, it’s a huge moment in our country’s history.

"This will be the first show we’ve done as Take That since our Odyssey Tour, four years ago in 2019 and what a stage to come back on."

He added: "We’re keeping a lot of it under wraps, but we have a huge live band, orchestra and choir, plus the backdrop of the beautiful Windsor Castle - we can’t wait."
