A record number of London councils will need emergency bailouts totalling over £530 million in order to balance their budgets this year and avoid falling into bankruptcy.
Ministers revealed nine town halls in the capital, up from seven in 2025, will be granted millions of pounds of extra support to provide services, despite increasing council tax bills.
