A retired policeman has been convicted of assault after grabbing his neighbour's neck in a row over a 6ft fence.

Nicholas Williams, 67, found 73-year-old Peter Laver in his back garden inspecting a new fence that he had put up at his home in Dorset.

Williams' wife Elvina shouted "get off my land" at his neighbour, who replied: "I'm allowed to be here."
