While Titanfall 3 seems like nothing but wishful thinking these days – Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella would “love to see” another installment in the franchise.
During an interview with Barron’s, Zampella explained that while the company doesn’t have “exact dedicated plans” or is “working on anything currently” regarding a potential Titanfall 3 – he’s more than interested in another one (thanks, PC Gamer).
“I hate to say yes, then people latch onto that and then skewer you when it doesn’t come,” Zampella said. “But I would love to see it happen is the real answer.”
Despite many considering Titanfall 2 as one of the best first-person shooters ever, there’s never been a follow-up – primarily because it didn’t meet sales expectations for publisher Electronic Arts. Naturally, a sequel is a tricky thing to greenlight at this point.
“It has to be the right thing. It’s such a beloved franchise for the fans and also for us,” Zampella continues. “If it is not the right moment in time, the right idea, then it just doesn’t make sense.”
Arguably the most challenging part of a hypothetical Titanfall 3 is that Respawn doesn’t want to confuse Apex Legends fans since both franchises share a fictional universe.
“There’s how do you do something that doesn’t confuse people that are [Apex Legends] fans, but not necessarily Titanfall fans yet?” Zampella explains. “It’s a hard question to answer.”
