According to Focus Entertainment, the game follows Sophia, a young plunderer who sets out to uncover the secrets of her past. Her journey takes her to the mysterious Minotaur's Island, where she faces deadly trials and an ancient curse.
Sophia must survive the island while being pursued by an army and confronting a terrifying presence tied to its ancient mysteries. Focus Entertainment's latest story details describe the game as an original story that blends combat, myth, and fate.

"Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy" is set to be released on August 27, 2026.
The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version will be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store, while the Xbox version will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Gameplay
"Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy" is an action-adventure game that puts a stronger emphasis on direct melee combat than previous "A Plague Tale" games. According to Focus Entertainment, Sophia fights using a dagger and sword while relying on precise parries, fast combos, and agile movement to take on groups of enemies. She can also use her grappling hook to pull enemies toward her or throw them into environmental hazards.
Stealth remains part of the gameplay, giving players another way to approach dangerous encounters. Exploration also involves solving ancient puzzles, including challenges that require players to manipulate light to progress through the island. Asobo Studio also explains that Sophia's grappling hook and environmental interactions give her greater freedom to move around and control battles.
The game also features sections set across two different eras. According to Focus Entertainment, Sophia experiences flashbacks to the Minoan era and encounters the legendary hero Theseus, adding another layer to the game's exploration, combat, and mystery.
Editions and Pricing
A standard digital game edition will be released for "Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy." Players who pre-order the game receive the Heritage Pack, which includes the Minoan Sword, Alec's Pendant, and a digital artbook.
Steam and the Epic Games Store have priced the game at $49.99. The game will be sold for $59.99 for consoles.
