Residents on a Nottinghamshire road have described the speeding drivers that plague the area as "disgusting". On May 10, police conducted an anti-speeding operation in Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford.
Those living in the area told Nottinghamshire Live what the road is like and say there’s no doubt that it’s a busy road. Chris Wilson, who lives on Moorbridge Lane, says the road is shocking for motorists speeding.
The 72-year-old said: “It’s disgusting. It’s bad from 6 o'clock in the morning right through the day and night. It’s constant. This is a shocker for speeding - I’m surprised there hasn’t been a big accident, there are hits. You’ve only got to stand here and watch.”

Peter McGrath, 75, said: “I come down this road and I’ve not noticed it being really bad. I drive down here two or three times a week in the car.
“Because the road is wider they tend to speed. It is a busy road - no doubt about it.”
Another resident on Moorbridge Lane, who didn’t want to be named, said: “Since it’s been resurfaced it’s a lot quieter. Yes people do speed, especially when they go over the bridge. I wouldn’t say the road is busy but you do get very busy times. The path narrows down the bridge, [as a pedestrian] you feel a bit too close to the road.”
Independent Stapleford councillor Richard MacRae joined a speeding operation on Moorbridge Lane a few weeks ago. He told Nottinghamshire Live: “I went out the other week, it’s not the worst road in Stapleford but it is pretty bad. What they do want to set up is a community speed watch. We want volunteers to come forward in any part of Stapleford. The community should be the eyes and ears for the police - the police won’t act on it if it’s not reported. Speeding is all over Stapleford.
“Road crime is a priority for us in Broxtowe Borough. The Community Speed Watch (CSW) is hopefully coming and we will need volunteers to get trained up by the police and then go out with the cameras for their own areas, which is a great way for the community to take charge of issues that matter a lot to them.
“If people in Stapleford are interested in getting set up and volunteering they need to make contact with me and I can pass the details on to the local beat team. In the meantime, keep us informed on where the speeding is taking place and the police will set up speed ops in that area when demand allows.”
PC Humphries from Broxtowe South Police said: "We have had lots of issues and reports from the local residents with concerns of vehicles speeding along the roads in the borough, not just Stapleford but also in the surrounding areas. We are carrying out speeding operations and will take the appropriate action with motorists that exceed the speed limits.
"Speed enforcement can take place at any time and we will be enforcing the speed limits in our areas also with assistance from mobile camera teams. Please keep your speed down, we will be returning."
