'Resident Evil Requiem' Sets Massive Franchise Sales Record, Significant Success for Capcom

"Resident Evil Requiem's" success keeps on growing, and it has now been revealed that the game has set a new massive franchise sales record following a resounding reception it saw from the global market.

'Resident Evil Requiem' Sets New Franchise Record

Capcom shared a new press release that announced that "Resident Evil Requiem" has set a new franchise sales record following its release on February 27. The game has now exceeded selling six million copies worldwide in only 17 days since its released.

According to Capcom President and COO, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, "Resident Evil Requiem" is the "fastest" title in its franchise that was able to achieve this number, marking a significant achievement for the company.

"Resident Evil Requiem" continues its growing number of sales across various platforms, with GameRant reporting that the game saw an impressive performance via the PC Steam platform, where it exploded to 314,000 copies sold during its launch.

Capcom Celebrates 'Resident Evil' Milestone

Capcom said that "Resident Evil Requiem's" success centers on the many elements introduced by the game, especially the focus on its two protagonists.

Both characters are best known for their deep connections to the franchise's past titles, with Grace Ashcroft strengthening the link to her mother and former "Resident Evil Outbreak" lead character, Alyssa Ashcroft.

More importantly, "Resident Evil Requiem" also attributes its massive success to the return of the one and only Leon S. Kennedy, arguably the franchise's most popular character who was last seen in 2012's "Resident Evil 6."

The press release also announced that the franchise will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on March 22, making this a massive milestone for the series that has been running for three decades already.
