The future of "Resident Evil" side stories could be different as, according to a new leak, the "Resident Evil Requiem" story DLC may be longer in duration.
Still, speculations about the DLC's release have remained unchanged, pointing to sometime after the Capcom drops "Resident Evil Veronica."
'Resident Evil Requiem' Story DLC Is Becoming Longer
The leaker known as Dusk Golem claims in their latest thread post on X that Capcom has decided to make the upcoming DLC more substantial than originally planned, which is contributing to the extended timeline.
Fans have been vocal about wanting proper story DLC for "Resident Evil Requiem" since launch, and that desire only grew after Capcom released the "Leon Must Die Forever" mode instead. While the minigame found an audience, it left many players still hoping for a fuller narrative expansion.
According to the leaker, Capcom is shifting its overall approach to "Resident Evil" content, aiming to produce DLC campaigns closer in scale to "Separate Ways" from the "Resident Evil 4" remake or "Shadows of Rose" from "Resident Evil Village."
The leaker claims that after receiving feedback following "Resident Evil Requiem's" launch, Capcom decided to be more ambitious with the story DLC, which is why additional time and development work are now needed.
(1/3) I want to share something I heard which I think is really interesting, Resident Evil related.

Capcom is investing into doing more lengthy story DLC in the future of RE, of the length & ambition as Separate Ways/Shadow of Rose, for both Requiem & future RE titles. There's a
'RE' DLCs to Transform as Full-Fledged Side Stories
Dusk Golem stated that Capcom has run into ongoing issues with smaller spinoff titles in the franchise, describing the shift toward longer story DLC as a temporary solution the company is now leaning on.
Rather than building out full standalone side games, Capcom appears to be favoring story expansions attached to a mainline release as a more efficient way to explore new plot threads.
That approach lines up with how the franchise has performed commercially in recent years. "Resident Evil Revelations 2" sold 4.2 million units over roughly a decade, while "Resident Evil Requiem" has reportedly already surpassed eight million units sold within just a few months of release, making story DLC tied to a hit mainline game a lower-risk way to expand the narrative further.
'Resident Evil Veronica' First, DLC Next
According to GameRant, Dusk Golem noted that the "Resident Evil Requiem" story DLC will not arrive until after "Resident Evil Veronica" launches.
According to the leaker, "Resident Evil Veronica" currently requires an all-hands-on-deck effort internally to finish development, leaving fewer team members available to work on the "Requiem" expansion in the meantime.
Adding to the wait, Dusk Golem has also previously claimed that both "Resident Evil Veronica" and a rumored "Resident Evil Zero" remake are meant to tie into "Requiem's" story, with "Resident Evil Zero" reportedly in development alongside "Veronica" as well.
With "Resident Evil Veronica" currently slated for release sometime in 2027, fans hoping for more "Requiem" story content may be waiting a while longer. As with any unconfirmed leak, none of this has been verified by Capcom, so these claims should be treated with some caution until the studio comments directly.
