Capcom announced during the February State of Play that Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries is returning in the horror game remake as free DLC. The news came at the end of a new trailer highlighting the game’s castle section, new threats, and Leon literally bringing a knife to a gunfight.
The new Resident Evil 4 remake trailer shows a mix of familiar scenes in the castle, including the infamous segment where Leon has to pick off Los Iluminados cultists from afar while Ashley activates switches, and some new locations, including an abandoned mine. Jack Krauser makes an appearance, and there’s a fight against two armored Gigantos featuring Luis Serra fighting alongside Leon.
Some of the action seems like a beat-for-beat recreation of the original, including the castle infiltration sequence where Leon and Ashley dodge firebombs hurled from the fortress’ battlements. Others have some tweaks both small and large, such as a minecart race with the chainsaw-wielding Dr. Salvador.
If you’re after a Resident Evil 4 remake demo and a chance to see it for yourself. you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Capcom said one is coming – but didn’t say when, only that it would release for PS4 and PS5.
Capcom still hasn’t said whether they will add the Separate Ways campaign featuring Ada Wong as free DLC as well.
Resident Evil 4 remake launches on March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
