Rescuers are currently engaged in a search operation for a missing helicopter in Russia's far east. The incident occurred on Saturday when a Mi-8 helicopter carrying 22 individuals took off near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka region. Unfortunately, the helicopter failed to reach its intended destination as per the schedule, as reported by Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency.
According to the statement released by the agency, it is believed that there were 19 passengers and three crew members on board the ill-fated helicopter. The Mi-8 helicopter, a two-engine aircraft that dates back to the 1960s, is commonly used in Russia and several other nations. Despite its widespread use, the helicopter model has been involved in numerous accidents over the years.
