A number of emergency services responded to Bonmahon Beach in Waterford on Sunday morning where a person caught into difficulty in the sea.
The individual had been caught in a dangerous riptide but their own quick actions and that of a concerned witness help safe their life.
The Rescue 117 helicopter, Bonmahon lifeboat, the Coast Guard and personnel from Waterford Ambulance Station all responded to the potentially life-threatening scene.

Waterford Ambulance Station hailed a "a safe outcome" following the incident at the popular beach.
They explained at that a person had got "caught in riptide" but that the "quick actions by the person and a witness saw a speedy interagency response from Bonmahon Coast Guard, Bonmahon Lifeboat, Rescue 117 and ourselves.
"The casualty had taken heed of all safety advice and didn’t try to swim against the current," they explained. They were then take safely from the sea.
"Well done to all involved."
