A rescue dog spent 27 days on the run after fleeing back to the home that surrendered him to the pound. Cooper, a Golden Retriever, bolted moments after arriving at his new home in the town centre of Dungannon in Northern Ireland.
The dog traveled for nearly a month as he traversed through back woods and along main roads, moving mostly at night and surviving without humans to feed him. The Lost Paws Northern Ireland group estimates he walked around 40 miles from the town centre back to Tobermore where he had grown as a pup.
According to Belfast Live, Cooper evaded searches day and night, traffic and human contact by darting into secret safety holes to hide. He even avoided the sheep farmers watchful over newborn lambs at the height of their busiest season as he flanked Co Tyrone farmlands.
