In a harrowing rescue operation, two women were pulled from the rubble more than seven hours after a Russian missile struck a private medical clinic in Zaporizhzhia, a city in southern Ukraine. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of eight lives and left 22 others wounded. The women managed to contact rescue services using their cellphones to alert them of their dire situation.
Deadly Russian strikes on civilian areas have been a grim reality in the ongoing conflict that has spanned nearly three years. In response to the recent attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need for enhanced air defense systems to protect the country from further missile threats. Zelenskyy called on Ukraine's Western allies to provide the necessary weaponry from their arsenals to bolster the nation's defense capabilities.
