House Majority Leader Steve Scalise stated that Republicans are committed to preventing a government shutdown before Friday night's deadline. Scalise did not address the 38 Republicans who also opposed the bill, nor did he confirm if the proposal to suspend the debt ceiling would be included in a new offer.
