Republican US Representative Tom Rice, who voted to impeach Donald Trump after the January 6 Capitol riot, has lost his re-election bid in South Carolina, while a second Republican incumbent targeted by the former president prevailed.

Trump-backed candidate Russell Fry defeated Rice, a five-term incumbent who became a prime target in Trump’s midterm revenge campaign against perceived political enemies.
