Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Brian Schimming confirmed on Monday that plans for the Republican National Convention (RNC) have not been altered in light of the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Schimming stated that the program for the convention has remained unchanged and emphasized that there have been no revisions to the schedule.
While Schimming mentioned uncertainty regarding whether Trump would address delegates on the first day of the RNC, he assured that the event would proceed as planned. He highlighted the high level of security at the convention venue in Milwaukee, describing it as the 'most secure place on the face of the planet' due to the extensive preparations that were already in place prior to the violent incident in Pennsylvania.
Despite not having spoken with Trump since the former president's arrival in Milwaukee, Schimming anticipated that Trump would address the recent shooting incident and use the opportunity to promote unity and denounce such acts of violence. He expressed confidence that Trump's remarks would aim to unify the nation during this challenging time.
Regarding Trump's selection of a vice president, Schimming indicated that he was not privy to any specific details regarding the timing of the announcement. However, he suggested that the announcement would likely not be delayed until Wednesday night, hinting at a potential earlier reveal.
