A key Republican lawmaker, Congressman Wesley Hunt, is launching a six-figure ad campaign through his Hellfire PAC to highlight what he calls President Biden's 'real record on race.' The 60-second ad will air during the Presidential Debate in major cities of battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The ad focuses on Biden's past controversial comments on race, aiming to sway Black voters to support Trump in the upcoming election. Hunt accuses Biden of making racist comments, endorsing discriminatory policies, and associating with segregationists.
The video begins with a clip of Vice President Kamala Harris challenging Biden's opposition to school desegregation, referencing his past work with segregationist lawmakers. It also questions Biden's civil rights record, highlighting his relationships with segregationist Southern Democrats.
The ad includes quotes from Biden's political career that some find cringe-inducing, such as his remarks about putting 'y'all back in chains' and his comments on 'poor kids' and 'white kids.' It also features Biden's description of former President Obama as 'the first sort of mainstream African American.'
Hunt, who is Black, criticizes the media for what he perceives as a double standard in how Republicans and Democrats are treated regarding race-related issues. He argues that if a Republican had a similar history to Biden's, they would face severe backlash.
In response, the Biden campaign highlights the achievements of the president, including record low Black unemployment, funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and efforts to address racial wealth disparities. They contrast this with what they see as Trump's failures in addressing the needs of the Black community.
The Hellfire PAC ad is set to air in several cities during the Presidential Debate, targeting audiences in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Milwaukee, and Detroit.
