Reports of youths 'throwing stones' and killing birds at Nottingham park

A councillor has called for action after reports of swans and geese at a Nottingham park being targeted by people throwing stones. The incidents have reportedly been taking place at Vernon Park in Basford.

Linda Woodings, a labour councillor who represents the area, was first notified by her friend that a swan had died after it had been hit by stones on Tuesday, April 12, while laying near its eggs. Another social media post suggests a goose had to be put down after being badly hurt by youths at the park.

It claimed three teenage boys had been laughing about how they hitting the goose with rocks, which left the animal with a fractured neck and without use of its neck after the incident on Monday, April 11. Cllr Woodings told Nottinghamshire Live : "I go there all the time. It's really, really sad that people would do this as some form of entertainment.
