With the start of training camp on the horizon, the Golden State Warriors are making some final touches to their roster before the preseason gets underway. With Dwight Howard’s signing reportedly unlikely, the Warriors are adding a different veteran before camp.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors are signing veteran guard Rodney McGruder to a deal. The former Detroit Pistons guard will compete for a roster spot during camp, per Charania.

Since coming out of Kansas State in 2016, McGruder has played for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Pistons. The 31-year-old wing played three seasons in Detroit before becoming a free agent this summer. Last year, McGruder averaged 5.7 points on 54.3% shooting from the field and 42.3% from the field in 32 games.
