Report: Vikings waive WR Jalen Reagor

After trying to find a trade partner for wide receiver Jalen Reagor, they chose to move on from him on their own accord. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings have waived the fourth-year wide receiver.

This both comes as a surprise and no surprise at all. Reagor struggled mightily in 2022. He wasn’t finishing routes or catching punts cleanly with four muffs on the year.

This preseason and training camp, Reagor looked much improved. He was running crisp routes, catching the ball with his hands and even looked better as a punt returner in his limited opportunities.

The move means that the Vikings will be fully on the hook for his entire $2.42 million salary. If Reagor gets picked up on waivers, the Vikings won’t be responsible for it.

There is a possibility that if a team signs Reagor after he clears waivers that there is offset language in the contract that will give the Vikings cap savings on the 2024 salary cap.

It also means that the conditions for the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles will likely not be met and the Vikings won’t be in danger of giving up their fourth round pick.

Editors note: The offset language was confirmed minutes after posting by The Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling.
