Report: Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has a torn Achilles

The Minnesota Vikings seized control of second place in the NFC North on Sunday, resolutely defeating the Packers in Green Bay, 24-10. It could very well be a Pyrrhic victory for the Vikings, however.

Postgame reports indicate that the leg injury suffered by Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins is a torn right Achilles. Cousins left the game after a non-contact injury and video replays appeared to show a “pop” in the lower calf.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell noted that the team believes it is an Achilles injury in his postgame press conference.

Minnesota has won three of its last four games to improve to 4-4 on the season, which is currently 1.5 games behind the Lions. Without Cousins, however, their prospects look significantly different. The current backup QB is Jared Hall, a fifth-round rookie from BYU.
