As NFL players continuously break league gambling rules, the league has elected to circulate a video to its players reiterating its policy on sports wagering.
The NFL has enlisted Tom Brady to be the spokesman in the educational video, according to Mike Klis of 9 News in Colorado. The news comes on the heels of the league’s latest betting investigation involving Isaiah Rodgers of the Colts.
According to Klis’s report, Brady has taped an introduction for the NFL’s gambling video that is required to be shown at each team facility as part of regularly scheduled sessions on wagering rules. Gambling seminars are required to be held by each team at rookie minicamp and later in the summer at training camp.
Brady reportedly talks about his love for football and how the opportunity to play in the NFL was the “privilege of a lifetime.” Brady also talks about how betting on games hurts the integrity of the league and the reputation of teams. Brady then implores the players to do the right thing and follow the gambling policy so that the NFL continues to be the greatest league in the world.
The NFL is caught between a rock and a hard place with the gambling policy, with some of the largest sports gambling companies now being league partners, while the integrity of the league gets called into question with each gambling violation.
The league hopes that enlisting Brady as part of the video will help curb future violations.
