Report: Titans Make a Decision on Mike Vrabel’s Future With the Team

The Tennessee Titans have fired coach Mike Vrabel, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Vrabel was with the franchise since 2018, leading it to four consecutive winning seasons before enduring struggles over the last two years.

The Titans finished this past season 6–11, missing the postseason for the second year in a row. In his first four years, Vrabel led Tennessee to the postseason four times but the team was never able to advance to a Super Bowl. The move is a shocking one to the NFL world, and his players are no exception.

Star running back Derrick Henry heard the news and told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, “Wow. Wow. I’m shocked. Coach Vrabel is a leader of men. He is a great coach and teacher. I know he will get another opportunity right away. I look forward to it.”

Henry is right on the money. With the move, Vrabel instantly becomes one of the hottest names on the coaching market and will likely get several interviews during the offseason. The former linebacker won three Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots and had assistant coaching stints with Ohio State and the Houston Texans before getting the Titans job.

In his six years as a head coach, he has a record of 54–45.
