Tennessee Titans senior defensive assistant Jim Schwartz has reportedly gotten another interview for a defensive coordinator vacancy.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Schwartz interviewed for the New York Giants’ defensive coordinator job. He also had an interview with the Indianapolis Colts for their vacancy earlier last week before the team decided on Gus Bradley.
Schwartz is about as experienced an option as the Giants could consider.
He has been a defensive coordinator three different times, spending stints with the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, and Philadelphia Eagles. He also has head-coaching experience after five seasons with the Detroit Lions.
In 2021, Schwartz served in an advisory role with Tennessee, his second stint with the franchise. The Titans saw a defensive revival with Schwartz’s help, which included a 24-sack improvement and the No. 2-ranked run defense.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and the New York Post’s Paul Schwartz, the Giants are also taking a look at candidates such as former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, Don “Wink” Martindale, former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator, Sean Desai, and Pittsburgh Steelers senior defensive assistant and secondary coach, Teryl Austin.
