Report: Lamar Jackson’s Contract Features No-Trade, No-Tag Clauses

New details have emerged regarding Lamar Jackson’s record-breaking contract extension with the Ravens, which made him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Jackson inked a five-year, $260 million contract extension with Baltimore last week, which includes $185 million in guaranteed money. However, there are also two additional clauses that are important to Jackson’s new deal.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that Jackson’s contract includes both a no-tag clause, as well as a no-trade clause. This means in five years when Jackson is once again eligible to become a free agent, he won’t be able to have any sort of franchise tag put on him. Additionally, Jackson is not able to be traded to another franchise unless he waives the no-trade clause present in his contract.

Jackson held out for the right deal with the Ravens this offseason, and it seems like the new contract was well worth the wait. Baltimore is hoping that with its franchise quarterback remaining in tow, the contract will pay off with a Super Bowl title.
