The future of the Minnesota Vikings is fascinating, mainly because of the quarterback position. Only Nick Mullens is under contract beyond this year, and they likely aren’t in range to draft one of the top quarterbacks.
That hasn’t stopped teams from inquiring about Kirk Cousins. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, there was some chatter around people in the league that Cousins could be traded to the San Francisco 49ers.
Apparently at the scouting combine, there was some chatter, there was some noise among people within the broader league structure — not media but people in the league — about Cousins being traded to the 49ers. That was a hot topic at one point in Indianapolis.
This shouldn’t come as a major surprise. We know that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has loved Cousins since their time together in Washington, but because of many factors, it hasn’t made sense until now. There are still roadblocks here, especially with Cousins needing to waive his no-trade clause, but it is worth keeping an eye on.
