Report: Saints met with Texans QB Deshaun Watson a second time

The New Orleans Saints have made the most effort to convince Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson to waive his no trade clause and continue his NFL career with their franchise.

According to Aaron Wilson from the Pro Football Network, the Saints had a second meeting with Watson that included owner Gayle Benson. General manager Mickey Loomis is also dogged in his attempts to land the three-time Pro Bowler.

The Atlanta Falcons are the only other strong team in the running. Watson has met with leadership from the Falcons, and he has a personal history with the franchise going back to his high school days when he was a ball boy while attending nearby Gainesville High School.

The Falcons already have a franchise quarterback in Matt Ryan, which makes the acquisition of Watson complicating for Atlanta.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio has wanted at least three first-round picks as the starting point in any trade package for Watson.
