Despite what was reportedly an impressive interview, Ejiro Evero ultimately did not come away as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. But he could still find his way into the building.
As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Saturday afternoon, the Panthers have requested to speak with the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator for the same position.

The former safety began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater of the University of California, Davis in 2005. He then made the transition to the NFL sidelines two years later, as a defensive quality control coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evero proceeded to pick up a number of stops and job titles from there—including with the San Francisco 49ers (quality control coach, offensive assistant and defensive assistant), Green Bay Packers (defensive quality control coach), Los Angeles Rams (safeties coach, secondary coach and passing game coordinator) and, of course, with Denver.
While the Broncos defense proved stout under Evero, as they allowed the seventh-fewest yards per game (320.0) in 2022, the team’s hiring of new head coach Sean Payton could result in a staff reset—leaving the Colchester native open for other opportunities. The Minnesota Vikings have also requested an interview with the 42-year-old.
