The lights may be shining even brighter for the Carolina Panthers during their first home game of the 2023 season.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Panthers are hosting the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 of the upcoming campaign—a division clash that will take place on the primetime stage of Monday Night Football. This would, of course, follow the season opener—which is reportedly another NFC South showdown against the Atlanta Falcons over at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Panthers will host Saints in Week 2 on MNF, per source and as others have said.
Bryce Young’s first regular-season home game in prime time.— Joe Person (@josephperson) May 11, 2023
As Person notes, this would be the first regular-season outing at Bank of America Stadium for No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. But, will he actually be playing in that outing?
While it’s likely that he does, Young is currently in the process of “earning” the top spot on the depth chart. In an interview with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk last Friday, general manager Scott Fitterer said that there’s no specific timeline for Young in that regard, and that Andy Dalton is currently considered the team’s starter at the moment.
So, we’ll either get the home debut of the franchise’s new face or a cute little “revenge” game.
