Report: NFL eyeing Vikings-Saints in Week 4 or 5 London game

The ghosts of the Minneapolis Miracle’s past could be coming to London in the form of a much-anticipated showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints in 2022.

Don’t circle your calendars just yet because the opponent has changed multiple times, but according to Nola.com’s Jeff Duncan, the Vikings are currently the team being considered as the Saints’ opponent in their international trip.

“The latest word I’ve heard on the Saints’ International game in London is Week 4 vs. Minnesota,” Duncan posted on social media. “This has been a fluid situation so don’t book it just yet. We know it will be either W4 or W5. Opponent has changed multiple times. The NFL should announce the matchups soon.”

There is a lot of history between these two teams, most notably the game-winning touchdown pass from Case Keenum to Stefon Diggs that punched the Vikings’ ticket to the 2017 NFC Championship game.

That one play had Bank of America Stadium shaking with the force of a 10.0 on the Richter Scale.

However, the Saints have won the last two regular season games against the Vikings, including a 52-33 victory on Christmas day in 2020, when Alvin Kamara lit up Minnesota’s defense and fantasy football teams around the world with 155 rushing yards and a ridiculous six touchdowns.

They might be in separate divisions, but there’s a sense of a growing rivalry between these two teams. So another opportunity for them to butt heads with an international twist should be plenty of fun.
