The Chicago Bulls may have another team looking to pry All-Star Zach LaVine from their hands coming this offseason.
LaVine, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, will have a vast number of suitors, whether to sign him outright or acquire him via sign-and-trade.
Reported by Marc Stein via Substack, the Dallas Mavericks are known to have interest in the upcoming unrestricted free agent and could join the ‘sign-and-trade bidding’ for the two-time All-Star. Stein notes:
“Sources nonetheless maintain that one option already being weighed by team brass is the prospect of joining the sign-and-trade bidding for the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine, amid a growing belief around the league that LaVine, as he heads into free agency, has more interest in leaving Chicago than initially presumed. Atlanta, Portland and San Antonio — all of whom possess either the cap space or the trade pieces to more readily chase him — have already been mentioned as likely LaVine suitors.”
Despite LaVar Ball’s recent comments that LaVine is ‘gone’, K.C. Johnson of NBCS Chicago recently said on 670 The Score that the Bulls are ‘very confident’ in their chances to resign LaVine.
LaVine is eligible for a five-year, $212 million max extension this summer.
