Gabe Vincent and the Lakers reportedly agreed to a three-year, $33 million deal, according to The Athetic’s Shams Charania.
Vincent, who joined Miami in 2020 on a two-way contract, was one of the Heat’s undrafted players who served a vital role for the franchise in its incredible postseason run to the 2023 NBA Finals as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.
In the playoffs, Vincent’s averaged 12.7 points, while shooting 40.2% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range as Miami’s starting point guard. One of his biggest performances in this year’s postseason came in Game 2 of the NBA Finals when he registered 23 points on 66% shooting to help Miami win its only contest against the Nuggets in the series.
Vincent’s second biggest outing came against the Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals when he exploded for a career-high 29 points to give Miami a 3–0 advantage in the series, which the Heat won in seven games. Prior to the postseason, Vincent played in 68 games and started in half of them, averaging 9.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
Vincent’s signing with the Lakers comes as Los Angeles has decisions to make in free agency regarding several of its backcourt options, including D’Angelo Russell, Dennis Schroder and Lonnie Walker IV.
As of now, even with Vincent, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reported that Los Angeles remains interested in re-signing Russell.
