Report: Julio Urías Arrested, Charged With Felony Domestic Violence

Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges after an alleged incident Sunday night, a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department told ESPN’s Jeff Passan

Urías, 27, was arrested past 11 p.m. PT and booked around 1 a.m. before being released at 4:47 a.m. Monday on $50,000 bond. The alleged incident is believed to have occurred at the LAFC vs. Inter Miami soccer game Sunday night at BMO Stadium, according to the Los Angeles Times

The Dodgers don’t have a game Monday, but they are set to face the Marlins in Miami on Tuesday.

“We are aware of an incident involving Julio Urías,” the Dodgers said in a release. “While we attempt to learn all the facts, he will not be traveling with the team. The organization has no further comment at this time.”

Urías has a court date set for Sept. 27. Los Angeles is scheduled to face the Rockies in Colorado that same day with their regular season finale set for Oct. 1.

This is the second time Urías has been arrested for domestic violence following an incident that occurred in a Los Angeles parking lot in 2019. Urías was ultimately not charged with a crime after the first incident, but he was dealt a 20-game suspension under MLB’s domestic violence policy. No MLB player has been suspended twice for violating the policy since its institution in 2015, according to ESPN

MLB has begun an investigation into the case, per Passan. Players charged with domestic violence are typically placed on administrative leave by the league while an investigation is conducted.
