The Jets are trading wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Browns, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Cleveland will get Moore and the No. 74 pick in the 2023 NFL draft and New York will get the No. 42 pick, per NFL Network.
The Jets will now have the No. 13, No. 42 and No. 43 picks in this April’s draft—assets that could potentially be used to traded for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time MVP has openly stated he wants to be traded to New York, but a trade agreement still has to be completed and would likely cost the Jets a haul of picks.
Moore is entering his third season in the NFL since he was selected in the second round out of Ole Miss in 2021. He tallied 37 catches for 446 receiving yards and one touchdown this past season for the Jets.
Wednesday’s trade came just minutes after it was reported that New York is signing former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman to a one-year deal worth $6.5 million. It appears New York is making several moves to both trade for Rodgers while also getting weapons to surround him once a deal is done.
