Report: Jets Targeting Packers WR Randall Cobb

Randall Cobb is expected to be on the radar of the Jets in the next few days of free agency as New York continues to be connected to a possible trade for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter

Schefter’s news regarding Cobb comes hours after he reported that the Jets are “actively working” to sign another Packers free-agent receiver in Allen Lazard. Both pass-catchers have been favorite targets of Rodgers in Green Bay in recent years.

Cobb’s history with the four-time MVP dates back all the way to 2011 when he first joined the Packers as a second-round pick out of Kentucky. The duo spent eight seasons together until Cobb left for two years and played for the Cowboys and the Texans, but the pair ended up reuniting in Green Bay in ’21.

Now 32 years old, Cobb’s production has dropped off in recent years but he remains a reliable target and a Rodgers favorite. Last season, Cobb made 34 receptions for 417 yards with one touchdown.

Rodgers and the Jets have been connected in a number of reports in recent weeks, but both New York and Green Bay are waiting on the quarterback to make a decision about his own future before agreeing to any deal. If the sides are able to reach an agreement, the star quarterback could now be bringing not one, but two receivers with him to the Big Apple.
