Report: Jalen Hurts, Eagles Agree on Record-Breaking Extension

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension worth $255 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The deal includes $179.3 million in guarantees and includes a no-trade clause. At signing, $110 million is guaranteed.

The extension also includes $15 million in incentives, meaning Hurts can earn up to a record $54 million per year and up to $274.3 million total through 2028. This includes the $4.304 million that he would’ve been due in the last year of his rookie contract.

The massive contract also marks the first time in Eagles history the team has given a player a no-trade clause—showing the franchise is committed to the 24-year-old superstar.

Hurts was the runner-up for the 2022 NFL MVP award, losing out to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Hurts also came second to Mahomes in Super Bowl LVII with Philadelphia losing to Kansas City, 38–35. But it didn’t take away from the incredible season Hurts enjoyed.

He finished the 2022 regular season with 3,701 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes while also rushing for 760 yards and 13 scores on the ground in 15 games.
