As the Patriots sit at 1–4 to start the season, a big topic in New England is how long Bill Belichick will remain the team’s coach. While the six-time Super Bowl champion is considered the best coach of all time, at some point he and the team will go their separate ways.
Therefore, Belichick will eventually have to decide whether to stay in the game or retire completely, with joining the media as a possibility. According to The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch, some agents believe Belichick could realistically make $18 million to $20 million by working for a TV network.
If Belichick wanted to do TV, Deitsch believes networks would love to have him in the studio or even consider a three-person booth on their No. 1 broadcast team. Right now, however, each of the four major networks have locked up their top color commentator long term, including Tom Brady eventually joining Fox at $37.5 million a year and Tony Romo making over $17 million a year at CBS.

In order for Belichick to join TV, he first has to leave the Patriots which, despite the team’s struggles, may not be definite if they continue to struggle. The coach is one win away from his 300th win and 30 away from overtaking Don Shula as the NFL’s winningest head coach.
However, Belichick’s reputation and football knowledge make him an obvious candidate to do media if he so chooses.
