After putting his stamp on the roster via free agency and the 2022 NFL draft, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen is now revamping the team’s scouting department.
Last week, Schoen sent away several long-serving members of the Giants’ scouting department, including director of college scouting Chris Pettit and pro scouting executive Ken Sternfeld, and is bringing in new blood.
The Giants are expected to add former Chicago Bears area scout Scott Hamel to the staff.
#Bears area scout Scott Hamel is headed to the #Giants as the newest member of new GM Joe Schoen's staff. Hamel joined Chicago in 2015 as a combine scout after 4+ yrs with @NUFBFamily. Exact role TBA.

Hamel comes to the Giants from Northwestern and the Chicago Bears (who have been in no better shape than the Giants the past decade). Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is a former quarterback and coaching assistant at Northwestern.
The change is welcome as the Giants have recorded eight losing seasons over the past nine years and had no players named to the Pro Bowl last season.
